Mold cannot be permanently resolved while water continues to enter. Every anti-mold treatment is temporary until the roof is sealed. We fix the roof first — this is the non-negotiable first step.
Once the leak is stopped, the affected ceiling cavity must be dried completely. This may require removing a section of gypsum board to allow the void to dry. Industrial fans and dehumidifiers accelerate this.
All affected surfaces should be treated with an anti-fungal biocide spray — available from hardware stores. This kills existing spores and prevents regrowth. Affected gypsum board may need replacing.
After drying, apply a mold-resistant primer followed by quality interior paint. A stain-blocking primer ensures water stains don't bleed through the new paint. We recommend moisture-resistant emulsion.
