A professional waterproofing contractor will never give you an accurate price over the phone. Every roof is different: size, condition, existing system, access difficulty, and number of drains and penetrations all affect cost. If a company quotes you a price without seeing the roof, that price is meaningless. It will almost certainly change — upward — once work starts.

4. Ask for a Written Warranty
Any reputable waterproofing company will provide a written warranty covering both materials and workmanship. The warranty should state: the duration (minimum 5 years for a full system), what is covered, and the process for making a claim. A verbal assurance of "don't worry, we'll come back if there's a problem" is not a warranty.
5. Request References and Photos

Ask if you can contact one of their previous clients directly. A confident, established company will have no hesitation providing these.

- Unusually cheap quotes — quality waterproofing materials and labour have a cost. A quote that is 50% lower than all others is almost always a sign of substandard materials or inadequate preparation.
- Pressure to decide immediately — "this price is only valid today" is a high-pressure sales tactic, not how legitimate contractors operate.

- Asking for large upfront payments — a standard payment structure is 30–50% deposit before work starts, balance on completion.
